Who would’ve thought that social jockeying calls for an understanding of game theory? Game theory, for the uninitiated, is ”the study of strategic decision making” or more formally, it is ”the study of mathematical models of conflict and cooperation between intelligent rational decision-makers”(Wikipedia). Michael Chwe’s new book, Jane Austen, game theorist explores this side of Jane Austen by examining her novels.

There have been many responses to Chwe’s new book but one most extraordinary, was supposedly from Jane Austen herself in Scientific American!
